Exhibition in the spotlight
“The Exhibition on Display,” with a new layout, retraces history through chronological stations that recount the 90 years of the International Handicrafts Exhibition.
The exhibition is curated using materials from the historical archive of the Tuscany Region, which preserves the archival collection of the Handicrafts Exhibition Authority, with documentation spanning from the 1930s to the 1980s. A rich photographic section tells the story of the Exhibition through images.
The exhibition route—structured in thirty-year stages—is built using documents and images from the Historical Archive of the Tuscany Region. Through an evocative display, it will showcase past productions while highlighting selected contemporary artisanal districts.
A screening room will present period footage and focus on a particular episode in the Exhibition’s history: between 1948 and the early 1950s, it served as a stage for the first women’s fashion shows. Original documents from the historical archive will also be on display, including posters, playbills, and postcards.
